Optional on the 2 and 4 wheel drive 2009 Grand Cherokee is the V6 3.0 liter turbo diesel engine, the V8 HEMI 5.5 liter engine, and the V8 4.7 liter engine. Auto leveling high intensity discharge headlights, a Class II and IV trailer hitches, 18: chrome wheels, a Sirius Back Seat television and a rear DVD entertainment system are all optional. The Sirius Back Seat television includes the Nickelodeon, Disney, and Cartoon network channels.

The 2009 Grand Cherokee Overland comes standard with platinum accents on the exterior, P245/50R18 tires on 18: chromed aluminum wheels, a Class IV trailer hitch, auto leveling, high intensity discharge headlights, an armrest and console that are covered with leather, ultra suede and two toned leather seats that are embroidered with the Overland logo, a console and doors that have accents from real wood, a leather and wood steering wheel, and the V8 5.7 liter HEMI engine.
